Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a fairly firm style of massage. The use of long firm strokes and a tailored combination of oils makes this a more relaxing, and a less intensive treatment, than a sports deep tissue massage.
Swedish massage encourages circulation of blood and lymph to relieve stressed muscle tissues. The use of long strokes, stretching, kneading and squeezing of tissue promotes the flow of blood in the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Lymph glands are part of the immune system and are found throughout the body in the arms, legs, tummy and neck/head. These help to filter and remove cellular waste from the body.
If you're used to a 'spa style' massage this will probably feel firmer. However, the physical benefits are likely to be longer-lasting and perform a more cleansing function for your muscles and tissue.
Holistic Approach to Wellness
By taking a holistic approach to your treatment, Swedish Massage therapy can complement more specialised or localised treatments to encourage healing and recovery.
If you've suffered and injury or trauma, Swedish Massage can promote a calming state to enable more focused treatment at a later stage in your recovery.
