About Jude Beckett MSMA MFHT
I'm not great at writing about myself, but I'll give it a go! I'm Jude, a Certified Massage Therapist based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire with a clinic at Wakefield Osteopaths.
I began training as a massage therapist when my children were small and I studied at night school. I was ready to learn a new skill and get some time to focus on myself! What started as a hobby almost 10 years ago, has become my career and I'm more passionate than ever about the benefits of therapeutic massage.
Holistic Approach to Wellness
I believe that we function as a complete being, meaning that our physical attributes and functions are directly connected to how we're feeling. If we're tired, stressed or nutritionally deficient then our physical bodies are out of balance. Therefore my approach to every patient is slightly different, depending on the wider factors that may be contributing to a presenting physical condition. I'm a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and have trained with Emma Lane ND, an internationally renowned naturopathic holistic specialist.
A Genuine Love of Sport and The Great Outdoors
I'm an outdoor girl! Given any opportunity I'm in the water, on my road-bike or enjoying a run or walk somewhere on a remote hillside! I've been a wild-swimmer for many years and regularly compete in swim events, trail runs and triathlons. So, I'm familiar with the types of physical exertion we put our bodies through in the world of sport and in the pursuit of the great outdoors. Therefore, I look at what activities you enjoy, how your body moves, and I'll aim to provide individualised massage therapy and get you back to doing what you love.
Self Development
Learning is important to me, and I'm interested in therapies that complement the specialist massage techniques I offer. Understanding the physical issues my patients are experiencing led me to train in both Anmo Fu abdominal massage and Prenatal pregnancy massage.
I'm fascinated by nutrition and our digestive systems, and their contribution to muscle and joint function. This has led me to seeking out a massage technique that can stimulate digestion and ease blockages that many people suffer with in silence.
Similarly, women's endocrine systems face a huge shift during pregnancy. As well as the emotional changes in anticipation of a new baby, the tension in ligaments and tendons shift meaning that aches and pains are common at this time.
